Ronald Canestrari

Ronald Canestrari represents District 106 in the New York State Assembly, which includes part of Albany, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties; it includes sections of the cities of Albany and Troy and all of the cities of Cohoes and Rensselaer.
First elected to the Assembly in 1988, Canestrari currently serves as the Chairman of the Higher Education Committee as well as a member of standing committees on Banks, Labor, Local Governments, Rules, Ways and Means. In 2007, he became Majority Leader of the State Assembly.
Prior to his service in the New York State Assembly Canestrari was mayor of the city of Cohoes.
Canestrari is a graduate of Fordham College and the Fordham University School of Law. He is an attorney and a member of the New York State Bar Association.
