[edit] Which defunct category?
Was Roxbury really a "city" when it was annexed to Boston? Or should it be moved from being the only entry in Category:Defunct cities in Massachusetts to join others in Category:Defunct towns in Massachusetts? Lupinelawyer 18:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- <a href="http://www.discoverroxbury.org/TheHistoryofRoxbury/tabid/54/Default.aspx">This page</a>, linked in the article, says Roxbury inc'd as a city in 1846. Incidentally, <a href="http://www.charlestownbusiness.com/history.html">this site</a> says Charlestown (also now a neighborhood of Boston) incorporated as a city in 1847, which would seem to suggest that it should be in this category, not in Defunct Towns (I don't have documentary evidence for either of these two claims, so I won't make the change). Still, I'm not sure we need a category with only two entries; why not put all disincorporated cities and towns in "Category: Defunct municipalities in Massachusetts" instead?
