Sadie Hawkins Dance (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sadie Hawkins Dance is a popular song by the Christian rock band Relient K. The song is one of the band's most popular songs to date, and it helped them gain popularity upon its release. It came out on the 2001 album The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek, Relient K's sophomore effort. The song remains popular among Relient K's fans, and remains the oldest song that the band still plays at shows.
On a post to their official message board, lead singer Matt Thiessen (who also wrote this song) admitted that this was to be the band's music video choice for their second album, but they did not have the budget they wanted, and the song "Pressing On" was chosen instead. Some rumors say that the suggested "Sadie Hawkins Dance" video was to star Gary Coleman. Whether these rumors were true or not was never stated.
This song was featured in an episode of the show Smallville.
[edit] Mistaken Lyrics
Sadie Hawkins Dance's lyrics are mistaken more than any other Relient K song. A common mistake is "Gotta give a speech", and the actual line in the lyrics is "Got up, gave a speech". Also many think that it says "and my khaki pants" when it really says "in my khaki pants".
