The Kapurthala district has the much renowned "Sainik School", based in what was formerly the palace belonging to the erstwhile maharajah of Kapurthala state, HRH Maharajah Jagatjit Singh.
The palace building has spectacular architecture based on the Palace of Versailles and Fontainbleau spread over a total area of 200 acres.
Other places of interest include the famous Shalimar Gardens, District Court buildings, a wetland resort and the NJSA Government College.
