- Nope, I don't have anything like that myself. You might try asking Courtarro - I think he works for the Technique so he might have access to one. Don't forget though that we shouldn't have a logo resolution any higher than absolutely necessary (see {{fairusereduce}}, etc) -SCEhardT 14:45, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I feel that when I pick an article to record I should put on its talk page that it is in the process of editing or recording. I have seen the box that says that on some pages. How do I do this without messing up a page?

- On the talk page, you can use {{User:Ckamaeleon/Spoken Wikipedia In Progress (no request)|Caninedoubletake|2006-12-09}} Where the two parameters are your username and the date you placed the notice. If you're making significant or frequent changes to the article as you

- Unfortunately Wikipedia does not accept content licensed as "for use on Wikipedia only" since one of our goals is to have truly free content that can be used by anyone. Since your image was licensed in this manner, it was deleted. If you took the picture yourself, you are welcome to re-upload the image and license it as {{GFDL}}, {{cc-by}}, or {{PD}}. Dear sir,
Like you, I'm a university student. You deleted my upload of a front page of a college newspaper that would have been useful to wikipedia browsers.
That was unfortunate. I can demonstrate beyond all doubt that I had authorization to upload that front page because I am an editor at that paper.
Beyond that, I believe front pages of newspapers belong on Wikipedia and should be considered fair use.
But I digress.
Please get in touch with me, as I have every authorization for publishing a 17,000 circulation daily newspaper front at the University of Maryland.
I would like to see this front page I uploaded reinstated.

- Kevin - The image was deleted because you uploaded it under a license that said it was only allowed to be used on Wikipedia. Unfortunately that does not fit with Wikipedia's goal of being a truly free encyclopedia where other people, companies, or organizations can freely use content from Wikipedia (with proper attribution). This leaves two options for your image:
- If you truly have the right to release the copyright of the front page of your newspaper, you can upload it with a {{GFDL}} or a {{cc-by-sa}} license. However, I have serious doubts that as an editor you have the authorization to waive the school's copyrights on part of the newspaper.
- The other option, which seems most reasonable to me, is to upload the file under a claim of fair use with the license {{newspapercover}}. You will also need to write a fair use rationale.

- I wouldn't have any problem with the general idea of banning this user, but the technical reason I choose a block rather than a ban is that IP edits and account creation are blocked now. I think that with an indefblock there is nothing done to the IP or maybe only for 24 hours? -SCEhardT 00:19, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
I suppose so; I didn't look to see how long you'd made the block, to be honest, which I should have done. Still, forty-eight hours isn't very long. I've no doubt that he'll start again when the block expires, though, and I think that then an indefinite block will be in order. Thank you for your comments on the spoken article I completed for DNA. I have now completed the audio information for the DNA.ogg file. I would appreciate it if you could take the time and listen to the spoken article and give me your comments, as it was quite a painstaking process to complete it and I would like it to be as accurate as possible. I recognise that recent changes to the article may mean I need to alter some parts of the spoken article. I think spoken articles are an important part of the future of Wikipedia and I hope to provide additional content for other long and technical articles that other people may find offputting for contributing narrations. Hi ! I am writing about the five following pictures which pose some copyright status troubles :
- Plaza de Armas de Cuzco (pixinn.net).jpg
- Sacsayhuaman (pixinn.net).jpg
- Iles Flottantes Titicaca (pixinn.net).jpg
- San Francisco de Lima (pixinn.net).jpg
- Alpacas Sillustani (pixinn.net).jpg
I am the author of all these photos. If you go to my webpage at "http://voyages.pixinn.net/perou" you can read that all my pictures from South America are released under a Creative Commons CC-BY-ND 2.0 (see : "http://voyages.pixinn.net/perou/licence.htm"). As I know that this particular CC license is not compatible with Wikipedia, I reposted of these photos on Wikipedia using a CC-BY-SA 2.5 license. In order to verify my identity and that I am the author of these pictures, you can see that the pictures on Wikipedia are of higher resolution. So they were not copied from the website. Therefore I think the five pictures don't pose any problem regarding their copyright status. If I am wrong, please let me know : I wouldn't like to see them deleted. - Also, your website name will need to be removed from the images (see {{watermark}}). To replace an image, just upload the new image with the old filename and it will overwrite the old one. One final note - since usernames are case sensitive, there is a slight mistake in your signature since it points to User:xtof rather than User:XtoF. I feel I'm being a little remiss in leaving you to do the hard work in getting this set up properly, however your MediaWiki technical expertise clearly outstrips mine by a large margin. [edit] Audio problem
I've recorded two audio pronunciations. One I did in the standard Windows sound recorder before converting it to .ogg with an online utility. The other was recorded and exported from Audacity. Do you have any idea why my VLC Media Player refuses to play the Audacity-created file? Did I do something wrong when I exported it? - Mgm|(talk) 09:36, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure - I'd never used VLC to play ogg files but I just checked and mine does work. Are you able to play the troublesome file on other media players (Windows Media Player, for example)? -SCEhardT 14:05, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I've installed VLC because Windows Media Player didn't play any .ogg files. When you say "I just checked and mine does work" do you mean that your media player plays my pronunciation files? Or that your VLC copy plays oggs? I've had some people record articles and those play fine. It almost seems a size-related problem. How do you set up your program to record files? - Ah, no I didn't check any of your files because for the past 36 hours or so I haven't been able to see any images (or other uploaded files) from the Wikimedia projects. My VLC copy does play oggs, as well as my copy of Windows Media player since I downloaded the codec. I've only made one recording for Wikipedia, and I did use audacity for that. Where did you download that codec? Whenever I try to play a file that isn't already working in Windows Media Player I usually get a failed to get codec erorr with no information where to find it. - Mgm|(talk) 21:02, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
