IRONIC that much of Scofield's own "translation" (based on Darby) went contrary to the KJV, yet he came to faulty conclusions from the KJV, that were against the simple reading of his own translation (Darby)...
Unfortunately Scofield's notes are studied more than the Darby translation (let alone the KJV or others) and therefore much confusion remains today (for example the KJV saying "world" whether "eon" or "kosmos" or "inhabited world/Roman empire" - THREE different Greek words)...
Sadly, Lindsey and other modern prophecy pundits educated by Scofield's fallible writings will continue to claim Christ's return is right around the corner when their faithful followers can always be enlightened, simply by reading the Scriptures, that in the FIRST CENTURY the New Testament writers said the same thing --> and THEY were inspired ... AND correct:

SEE for example Romans 16:20 ; 1Corinthians 7:26, 29, 31 ; 1Corinthians 10:11 ; Hebrews 1:2 ; James 5:8-9 ; 1John 2:18 ; 1Peter 4:7, 17 ; Revelation 22:6, 7, 10, 12, 20 ; Matthew 24:3, 34 ; AND 2Timothy 4:1 especially "who [IS ABOUT TO - from the Greek MELLO, on the verge of, etc.] judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom" etc.

[edit] Opponents to Scofield who are neither Dispensationalists nor Preterists
It may be a surprise that there are those who are neither Preterists, nor Dispensationalists, nor Pre-trib rapturists, who are likewise opposed to Scofield and Darby's biblical hermeneutic.
Namely, the traditional Lutheran viewpoint, which I believe represents the historic position of protestantism prior to Darby. I do not think that it can accurately be called partial preterism, but it is accurate to say that it holds that there were some prophecies fulfilled in 70AD. However, they look to the end of the world for the fulfillment of most Biblical prophecy.

I am mentioning the Scofield bible in my sermon this week and I wanted to do a quick check of facts. I was raised with the Scofield bible but haven't cracked one open in probably twenty years.
Your talk of "Preterists, nor Dispensationalists, nor Pre-trib rapturists" reminded me of why I gave all that up. (no offense to you, personally... you're probably a fine Chrsitian.)
I just got tired of it!
