Shane Herbert (born 23 September 1986) is a professional football goalkeeper, currently with Conference National side Cambridge United.
Herbert was born in Hethersett and attended Hethersett High School. He joined Norwich City’s academy in 2001, signing as a trainee in July 2003. He struggled with knee injuries and in December 2004 was loaned to non-league Gorleston.
In November 2005, with a first team place looking further away than ever at Carrow Road, Herbert joined Gillingham on loan until the end of the season. He was released by Norwich at the end of the season and joined Kings Lynn. However, he joined Cambridge United on July 28, 2006 as cover for Paul Crichton who had played with at Gillingham.[1] He soon replaced Crichton as first choice keeper.
