Sharon LaFraniere

Sharon Veronica LaFraniere (born in Detroit, Michigan) is an American journalist who has covered southern Africa for The New York Times since 2003.
LaFraniere previously wrote for The Washington Post from Moscow.
As well, her other billets at the Post include:
- investigative reporter in the Metro section
- investigative reporter on the National staff
- acting deputy national editor
In 2006, LaFraniere received the Michael Kelly Award[1]

LaFraniere is married to Michael Wines, South Africa bureau chief of the Times. They have three children.
