[edit] Shaun Ontong
Shaun Ontong (born March 25, 1987 in Canberra) is a strong tough defensive midfielder of the AIS and the Young Socceroos Captain. Although not as heralded as some of his high class teammates, such as Kaz Patafta of SL Benfica and Nathan Burns of Adelaide United, Shaun is a very determined character who is another future Australian star, and one that is sure to have a good career in either the A-League or Europe. One of a minority of Australian players to have forged a name in the ACT city of Canberra, Shaun grew up watching the Canberra teams such as the Canberra Cosmos playing in the NSL, and wishing that one day he could represent his home in a world-class league such as the A-League is now. He may just get his wish, however, as Canberra is looking a real possibility to host the ninth team in the competition, and Shaun has expressed an extreme desire to make an impression on the fans and Manager of the club if they are formed, hoping for a contract. Otherwise, Shaun may have to look for an oversees club as few A-League teams have expressed much interest in the promising teenager, who has won 10 caps for the Under 20 Australian outfit.
