Shillingford Bridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shillingford Bridge crosses the Thames near Shillingford, Oxfordshire, connecting the village to Wallingford. It is mentioned in records from 1300 and 1370, but not in the 1400s. A ferry operated across the river until the building of a wooden bridge with stone piers in 1763, later replaced by the current decorated stone arch bridge in 1827. It is 17'3" high, with 3 arches and a balustrade. The Shillingford Bridge Hotel sits on the south bank next to the bridge. The Swan hotel was in existence on this site in 1608.
