Shoppingtown Mall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shoppingtown Mall is a regional shopping center located in Dewitt, New York, an eastern suburb of Syracuse. The mall first opened as one of Syracuse's first suburban shopping centers in 1954 as an open air mall. After expanding several times in the 1960s it was enclosed in 1975 and substantially remodeled in 1991. Currently, it is mostly two stories, however only a small portion of the lower level is accessible to the public and is used for retail space. It is home to 110 stores and a 10-Screen movie theater as well as a TGI Friday's Restaurant. It is currently owned by the Macerich Company, of California (which, also, owns Westcor), having purchased it from the Wilmorite Corporation, of Rochester, in 2005. It is not to be confused with the "Shoppingtown" nomenclature previously utilized by Westfield Group.
