Official World Record attempts must use a standard 330ml glass bottle of Smirfnoff Ice with an ISA (International Strawpedo Association) standard straw. The bottle must remain vertical and the correct way up until after the signal to start has been given. Once the drink is finished the empty bottle must be held above head height. Spillage is banned and the maximum remaining volume of drink allowable after the attempt (to account for surface tension related undrinkable volume) is 1.25ml (reduced from 1.5ml in 2002).
The current World Record was set in June 2004 and is held by Tim Spanky at 0.7983 seconds though he is currently in training with the aim of setting a new record in 2007.
What is the purpose of rubbing the can? I never do that, and still am very sucessful.
