Thank you for removing some of the contents (cycling in the Netherlands) referring to it as B*******. It is good to see that Dutch students are able to tackle the intricacies of the English language and that the Dutch tax payers' money is being sufficiently wasted! Groetjes.

Hello,
sorry for the late answer, but I usually roam on fr.
On the usual pole figure, only one hkl plane is represented: the value at each point is the density of single crystals which hkl plane correspond to the direction. The hkl indices are fixed, and it is the representation of the density vs direction.
On the inverse pole figure, every point is a hkl plane: the value at each point is the density of single crystal which hkl plane is parallel to the surface, i.e. which pole is perpendicular to the surface (or I believe so). The direction is fixed, and it is the representation of the density vs the hkl indices. AFAIK, it is only used for cubic and hexagonal crystals.
But I did not use this notion since my studies, so it may not be so reliable...
BTW, I personally would place the inverse pole figure in the same article, not on a different. But it is only a matter of taste...

- No (but I do have it and it is a strong reference for sure). I just tried to remember my old student days and made some Web search to refresh my memory; it was the opportunity to make the calculations again — just to see if I was still able (-:
- The picture with the atom density on faces was drawn for my PhD, and was inspired from the work of Bénard et al. about the high temperature oxidation of a single crystal ball (L'Oxydation des métaux, J. Bénard et al., ed. Gauthier-Villars, 1962): the atom density determines the adsorption sites, thus the oxidation speed.

Hi
When you find a vandal in Wikipedia who's IP belongs to a school, you may insert the code
- {{subst:schoolip-n|NAMEOFSCHOOL}}
or possibly
- {{subst:Schoolip}}
Some templates have been created to address a specific schools or universities, such as
- {{subst:Cambridge_IP}}
Alternatively, if the address is used by a library or other public facility you can use
- {{subst:Publicip}}
If the vandal is a user of AOL, you should use
- {{subst:AOL}}
In case you don't know the specifics but you do know that it's shared by many users, use:
- {{subst:Vandalip|NAME-IT-IS-REGISTERED-TO}}

Hi Sietske. I liked your article Sietske, I did clean up the language a little but it was already almost perfect, your English is excellent. It made me think of an old couplet:
Good butter and good cheese
Is good English and good Friese
