Sindhi Memon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sindhi Memons (Urdu: میمن; Sindhi: ميمڻ) are an ethnic group residing in Sindh Province of Pakistan. They speak Sindhi, one of the Indo-Aryan languages[citation needed]. They are primarily involved in agriculture, unlike other Memons who tend to be businessmen[citation needed]. They are generally believed to have be the descendants of those on the right hand flank of Mohammad Bin Qasim's forces which invaded[citation needed].
The word Memon came from "Meimana" which means right side and referred to the right flank of Mohammad Bin Qasim's army . Sindhi Memons are settled all over the Sindh province. There are many sub-castes amongst them, mainly depicting the area they reside in and their lineage. The main sub castes are Jumani, Deeplai, Yousefani and Bachani.
