[edit] Welcome
Hello Skoglund and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more,
-
- Wikipedia:Bootcamp teaches you the basics quickly,
- Wikipedia:Tutorial is more in-depth, and
- Wikipedia:Topical index is exhaustive.
The following links might also come in handy:
Float around for awhile until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. You can write new articles, add to existing ones, or edit any and all pages that appear. There are also many great committees and groups that focus on particular jobs. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English and Wikipedia:Cleanup for sloppy articles, but they may not interest you. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy more, but Wikipedia is the most popular by far.
There are a few crucial points to keep in mind when editing. Be civil with users, strive to maintain a neutral point of view, and show good etiquette like signing your comments with four tildas like this: ~~~~ If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page or ask the true experts at Wikipedia:Help desk. Again, welcome! Draeco 21:43, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Why are you changing headlines?
Hello there! Why are you chainging the headlines of years BC? Greece, Persian empire, Rome etc. are sub headlines of By place and as such, they should not be larger than that one. It is itself a sub headline of Events and thus, it's smaller than that one. Hej! Varför ändrar du på rubrikerna på åren före Kristus? Greece, Persian empire, Rome etc. är underrubriker till By place och skall därför vara mindre än den. Den är i sig en underrubrik till Events och är alltså mindre än den. /Ludde23 Talk Contrib 23:14, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Stop the changes! Why are you doing it? They shouldn't be headline level 2, but headline level 4! Stop this instant! Ludde23 Talk Contrib 13:01, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suggestion for 5th century BC
Hi Igor! I notice you've done a lot of work with the historical date topics. I just made a small correction to 5th century BC, and I have a suggestion. Since specific dates from 2500 years ago are so imprecise, it might make sense to show the estimated/approximate dates after the year. This would keep the year column lined up better. For example, something like this:
- 480 BC - King Xerxes I of Persia sets out to conquer Greece.
- 480 BC - Cimon and his friends burn horse-bridles as an offering to Athena and join the marines.
- 480 BC - Pleistarchus succeeds his father Leonidas I as king of Sparta.
- 480 BC - (~August 11) - Battle of Artemisium - The Persian fleet fights an inconclusive battle with the Greek allied fleet.
- 480 BC - (~August 11) - The Battle of Thermopylae, a victory by Persians over the Greeks.
- 480 BC - (~September 23) - Battle of Salamis between Greece and Persia, leading to a Greek victory.
- 480 BC - Battle of Himera - The Carthaginians under Hamilcar are defeated by the Greeks of Sicily, led by Gelon of Syracuse.
- 480 BC - Roman troops march against the Veientines.

[edit] link to British
Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom or Great Britain by writing out [[United Kingdom|British]] or [[Great Britain|British]]. [edit] A very long time ago
Skoglund said on my user talk:
- I suggest to expand previous dates like 11th millenium BC because Upper Paleolith is event but not a timeline. Igor Skoglund
- I'm not sure what you mean precisely, Upper Paleolithic covers time over a period of 30,000 years.
- Still, I'd be glad to help expand dates/events. Please let me know more.

[edit] Fine job, but...
Hello! You're doing a fine job adding events to the year articles, but, when you do so, please write in the present tense. /Ludde23 Talk Contrib 00:01, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
