Son Servera

Son Servera is a municipality in north-east Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, which are controlled by Spain.
Founded in 1300 by James II of Catalonia, in the lands of the Cervera family, it was first documented in 1354 with the name of Binicanella, which later would become two villages: Son Fra Garà and Ca s'Hereu wich would become Son Servera. In 1814, king Ferdinand VII puts Son Servera municipality in Arta. In 1920, the population was masacred by the peast, but in 1937 the population reaches the 1000 habitants, and immediately returns to the status of municipality.
It has more than 10.000 habitants. Next to Son Servera stands Cala Millor, wich in summer is an important turistic place, where an important german comunity lives. There is also a place called Costa de los Pinos, where spanish high society goes in summer. Also there are some big commercial areas, and there is a very good little restaurant called Binicanella, whose international fame is quite big. The municipality has two golf clubs: Pula, with an five stars hotel and Golf Son Servera, in Costa de los Pinos, quite big.
