Stanislav Gustavovich Strumilin

Stanislav Gustavovich Strumilin (29 January 1877- 25 January 1974) was a Soviet economist who developed the "Strumilin index" which measures labor productivity. He developed the "norm" coefficient relavant in the "investment activity" analysis of the "Soviet type planned economy". He was involved in the modelling of the Soviet type planned economy, "five year plans" and the "calculation of national income" in the Soviet Union after the October Revolution.
Strumilin's educational background was in statistics.
Until 1917 he worked as a socialist activist. After the October Revolution he worked on setting up the Soviet planned economy while he was appointed to a professorship in economics at the Moscow State University. In 1931 he became a member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
