Stenmin

Stenmin is a fictional character in author Terry Brooks' fictional Shannara setting. The character appears in only the first volume of the series - The Sword of Shannara. Stenmin is the advisor to the current ruler of the city of Tyrsis - Prince Palance Buckhannah. Stenmin is poisoning the young man's mind and body and is responsible for the illness of the king, Ruhl Buckhannah. Stenmin encourages Palance to imprison his brother Balinor Buckhannah and his companions upon their arrival in Tyrsis.
Stenmin is revealed as a traitor by Menion Leah and eventually slain by him as well.
The character is extremely similar to Gríma Wormtongue of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings tale. Both characters change otherwise wise and benevolent rulers into evil men and ultimately mean their deaths.
