Steve Bell was a news correspondent for ABC News from 1967-1986. He served for more than a decade as the anchor for the news segments of "Good Morning America," and for ABC's "World News This Morning." During his time at ABC News, Bell spent time reporting from Vietnam during the Vietnam War. [1] Bell has interviewed many Presidents. He was parioded in a Saturday Night Live segment.
Bell is good friends with Ted Koppel, who he spent time with living in China during the Vietnam War. Bell appeared on Nightline in 2005 to present a report on how China has changed since Mao's rule. Koppel and Bell both did a documentary from Maoist China.
Bell is now a professor of Telecommunications at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He has a news packaging scholarship in his name that is given to Ball State students for excellence in television news story packaging. The Steve Bell News Packaging Scholarship is given each semester at Ball State University.
