Please do not change other users' comments on AfD pages. You are free to make your own comments in response to their comments, but it is very poor conduct to strike others' comments or change them in any way. Many people would consider it vandalism. Peyna 03:02, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- We don't have any warning signs about this, as it's generally believed to be self-evident, but showing up on AfD and insulting everyone who doesn't recognize the deeply misunderstood notability of your cause is hardly ever helpful :)
- I'll try and get to your points about the article as they are presented. I'll leave unaddressed your assertions about my fellow power-hungry Wikipedians.
- 1. Opposition. Yes, all the opposition is coming from Wikipedians. Oddly, most of the people who end up here have heard of Wikipedia. I can't readily explain this, but blame aliens.
- 2. Sockpuppet warning. I agree the wording is unfortunate, but it's important that the rules of the road be explained when you have a lot of folks coming in from offsite. This isn't a vote or a contest. If anyone treats it as a contest, they're the only ones running :) It's an attempt to establish community consensus, and first-time single-issue editors are not yet a part of the community -- though we'd love it if they stayed.
- 3. Lots of people have lived lots of places, places that exist for a while have a tendency to acquire history, and the article states that the movie was purportedly inspired there, which really isn't saying much of anything. None of these things make it notable, and you're ultimately only hurting your cause by showing up here and raising a ruckus.
- If your subject is notable, someone will write about it. AfD is not the end of the world. It doesn't mean your topic is not important, or worthwhile. It just means that there is doubt as to whether it's important to an encyclopedia, and that we're seeking community consensus.
- I encourage you to *cite sources* showing your structure is notable -- don't just say it. I will change my vote if you can show non-trivial third-party sources indicating that it's objectively important to other people unassociated with it.
- 4. I lied, I'm not going to address the assertion that we're just voting delete because we go to competing schools or universities. I wouldn't know what to say other than ... buh?[1]
- And lastly, yes, we have a lot of stuff that seems silly on Wikipedia. We're not perfect -- we just do the best we can. We delete some things that I think should stay, and keep some things that I believe should go. But we try to get it right. I hope you'll stick around and help us do just that.
- Do please note that I'm occasionally a bit sarcastic, but that in no way means I don't take your concerns seriously. Thanks for your understanding.
Re: Your recent comment on this Afd: It would appear to me that most of us involved in this discussion are being much more civil than you suggest they are. We are simply trying to keep things in order; make sure other users' comments are deleted or modified; make sure comments are properly attributed; and make sure that people participating in this discussion understand how AfD works. Might I suggest that perhaps if you and others had not taken your prior actions this AfD would have received nominal attention, but probably still would end up with the article being deleted. You know I've worked in the field for 30 years and I have no idea. Try posting it at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous and see if anyone knows (expect to get the reply "Y not") you might get a response. Also, it's more likely to be an ICAO ruling than IATA. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk)

- Don't know what I was thinking before. While CY is the most common ICAO code it's not the only one. Zeballos Water Aerodrome is CAA5 and Wollaston Lake Airport is CZWL. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 12:45, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
