Strzelecki Desert
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Strzelecki Desert is located in South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. The desert lies to the southeast of the Lake Eyre Basin, and north of the Flinders Ranges. The desert is characterized by extensive dune fields and is home to three wilderness areas.
It was named after the Polish explorer Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, who named Australia's highest mountain Mount Kosciuszko and was its first known climber.
