Super Bowl Classics
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Super Bowl Classics is a series of rebroadcasts of previous Super Bowl games that air on NFL Network.
It is similar to NFL Replay. However, while NFL Replay airs highlights of recent NFL games in condensed and modified 90-minute programs, Super Bowl Classics airs the entire game. Each game telecast lasts between three and four hours.
This is the first time that classic videotapes of complete NFL games have been shown on national television in the United States. Previously, the only available showings were half-hour recaps produced by NFL Films and occasional productions of its NFL's Greatest Games on the ESPN networks.
The first game to be shown in this manner was Super Bowl XL, which re-aired on January 11, 2007. At least nine telecasts will be shown in 2007, all of them in the month before Super Bowl XLI. It is expected that NFL Network will continue this series in future years leading up to the next scheduled game.
