Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap

The Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses run each Summer at Saratoga Race Course open to horses age three and up. The race is named after the great horse Sword Dancer, who was horse of the year in 1959. The race is an important prep for the Breeders' Cup Turf. Run at a distance of one and one-half miles on the turf, the Grade I event awards a purse of $500,000.
The great John Henry won this race in 1981.
