Talk:Sylvester Stallone
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am revising the paragraph relating to Stallone's pornographic history. Fans of Stallone get very sensitive when discussing this film, but a fact is a fact, and the movie was pornographic. Referring to it as porn in one sentence and then stating that it "showed genitals" in the next is redundant and the fact that Stallone has unusually small genitals is irrelevant. A dark site claiming to be the "church of stallone" and no content for even its FAQ much less events or other items, does not deserve a link on wikipedia at all, much less the indicator "Official Site". It might be someone's Rambo idea of a fan site, but even for such a thing it's very poor. Sylvester Stllone's personal site is the very obvious and guessable: http://www.sylvesterstallone.com/. -- User:Starshine Sat 10 Dec 2005 11:51 Pacific
[edit] steroid exporting
recent news February 17, 2007 Australian authorities pass evidence of steroids in his entourage's luggage to USA authorities...

That does not belong to "personal life" (including his marriages and family) in any kind of way. it's already mentioned in section trivia. (82.153.159.122 02:38, 26 March 2007 (UTC))
[edit] Draft Dodger
I read that Stallone evaded the Vietnam war draft in the 1960's by moving to Switzerland. [1] (near bottom of page). Does anyone know if this is true? Adam Haaretz
Yes this is true. It's funny how draft dodger Stallone went on to make the gung-ho Rambo movies in the conservative 80s, and was received at the White House by President Reagan.
There was an amnesty for draft dodgers and i don't blame him, he wouldn't have been fighting for his country in Vietnam because it posed no threat to the U.S. he was smart to get away to a neutral country
The little prick shouldn't have played a Vietnam War hero on screen if he felt that strongly about it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.73 (talk • contribs) 00:11, July 11, 2006.
- Easy there. First off, how do we know this is true? Do you have a source? Second, he's an actor. His political views have no bearing on the roles he takes as an actor. Third, are you all such little internet tough guys that you can't even sign your posts? Mcflytrap 21:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- ...and isn't one of the main themes of the First Blood films that John Rambo has been destroyed and betrayed many times by his country? In creating a War hero that is no longer a functioning person, Stallone seems to continue his criticism of the Vietnam War and it's effects. Probably best that he wasn't conscripted then! --The globetrotter 22:35, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] His birthday
I heard on the radio yesterday and today that his 60th birthday was yesterday, so June 6th, not July 6th. What's that confusion? When is his birthday? Are there references that state it's July and others that state June. If that's the case, that should probably be mentioned in the article. Does anybody know more about this? BigBen212 15:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Maybe he just wanted to celebrate his birthday earlier?
Sylveser Stallone was born on July 6, 1946, the same day as President George W. Bush. Actually, Stallone is one of Bush's two favorite actors. Bcody 15:29, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Stallone writing Rocky?
The claims made in this article border on the incredible, anyone got a source for this? Stevage 14:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe this one? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075148/ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paolo V. (talk • contribs).
- Many articles confirm that this script was written in three days, but I can't find anything that says he painted his windows black, so I'll remove that for now. --Daniel Olsen 23:38, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

- Stallone has recently taken part in a 20-day, 200-question Q&A session at Ain't It Cool News where he personally answers questions asked by fans. Along with many amusing anecdotes, He has also cleared up quite a few rumors.

- This should clear up any controversy over the subjects and allow for the correct information to be added to the article. --FrixFrixFrix 17:47, 19 December 2006

[edit] Personal Life Section
Stallone is listed as a Jewish-American actor. This is somewhat true as his mother has some Jewish heritage. Stallone, however, is a self-avowed catholic, as other pages (and wikipedia) attest:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Catholic_American_entertainers http://www.adherents.com/people/ps/Sylvester_Stallone.html
etc. Please revise.
[edit] Tobacco Document
There was an image of a "tobacco document" embedded in this article which appears to be an agreement to show certain tobacco products in the Rocky films. While that's fine and dandy, this image really needs some explanation—it's not a photo or other generic, easily-identifiable image. Please add some background if you add the image again.
[edit] Lazy eyes
His trademark sneer, double lazy eyes, and slurred speech are the result of paralysis in the left side of his face caused by birth complications.
In my opinion, this is oddly placed (in the caption). Shouldn't it be in the trivia section? - Majik43 21:59, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
No its not trivia. Trivia is something extraneous - irrelevant or trivial. His features are definitely very relevant and very important to an actor.
[edit] Birth location?
The textbox says New York City but the article (first paragraph) says Baltimore. Jason Quinn 23:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- His biography on his personal site says he was born in NYC ("Born in New York City, Stallone attended school in suburban Philadelphia..."). Jason Quinn 18:27, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NOT the Terminator
You are confusing him with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Please revise.
[edit] Cleanup
Many of the sections should be consolidated and updated, the article does not look very good right now Metsfanmax 22:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC) Metsfanmax
[edit] Football fan
I mean soccer, not American football. Does anyone know if he is a fan of Everton. Sky Sports here in the UK has just said he will be at Goodison Park, Everton's stadium, on Sunday for a match against Reading. Jimmmmmmmmm 22:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
In an interview with the BBC at a recent film preview he said that yes and this ...
- During filming Escape to Victory Pele broke his finger whith a shot on goal.
He then showed the damage to his finger, I was amazed. Added to the trivia section but some one deleted before it was protected. The BBC not good enough, ho hum
[edit] Birthname
Two names have been added recently as birthnames; Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone and Michael Enzio Sylvester Stallone, neither with citations. I can find proof for neither (Michael Enzio finds little but Wikipedia links), so I've removed them and will continue to do so unless they are sourced. SteveLamacq43 14:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pulp Fiction
Sly turned town "Pulp Fiction (role of Butch Coolidge that later went to Bruce Willis)"
I think a citation is needed for that, as Michael Madsen was originally cast in the role, but couldnt do it due to other acting obligations (Free Willy). Willis was asked straight away to do the role instead, he agreed on the basis that he could Produce as well, which he did.
I aint ever heard about Sly being involved with Pulp Fiction, would like a reference please, otherwise change it, it rings of speculation
[edit] Artist
He is also an artist who paints abstract scenes inspired from his earlier films.

[edit] A sub section on his career from 2000 to 2003
I have just added a small sub section about his films from 2000 to 2003 when his career was in decline with flops like Get Carter, Driven and D-Tox. It is notable to have this section as his career was considered dead during these years when he had one flop film after the other before his recent comeback Shakirfan 22:43, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Refused Lead Roles
Quoting from article, one of the lead roles stated as refused by Stallone: "Jackie Brown (Max Cherry role that later went to Robert De Niro)." The Max role went to Robert Forster, the Louis role went to Robert DeNiro, citing credits from the film and the Wikipedia page on Jackie Brown. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Guava javajam (talk • contribs) 11:11, 18 February 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Agoraphobia?
Stallone's "Trivia" section states:
He overcame serious agoraphobia to make Cliffhanger.
If Cliffhanger was about cliffs, mountains, and heights; then shouldn't the word be acrophobia, the fear of heights, and not agoraphobia, the fear of crowded places? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.253.81.194 (talk) 20:29, 2 March 2007 (UTC).
- Agoraphobia isn't really a fear of crowded spaces though, and it could well be that it is the correct term, although it's also possible that the whoever added it just used the wrong term. Probably best to find a citation to clarify. - 85.210.11.39 23:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] could you add?
categories Category:Worst Supporting Actor Razzie and Category:Worst Actor Razzie? He's very famous in Golden Raspberry Awards. Thanks, 84.94.108.233 09:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
If you cannot add it' can you just unprotect it? So I could do it by myself?
