Tammany Trace

The Tammany Trace was once the Illinois Central Railroad corridor. It is now 31 miles of asphalt foot, bicycle, and wheelchair Rail Trail, with a parallel equestrian trail. [1] Connecting Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, Lacombe, and Slidell running along the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. The trail was damaged by Hurricane Katrina but was reopened by early 2007.
