Tekijuku

Tekijuku (適塾) was a school established in Senba Osaka, in 1838 during the Tenpo era of the late Edo period. Its founder was Kōan Ogata, a doctor and scholar of Dutch studies (Rangaku). Some of the school's notable alumni include Fukuzawa Yukichi, Omura Masujiro and Takeda Ayasaburō.
The school later developed into Osaka University.
