Temple is a London Underground station in the City of Westminster, on the Victoria Embankment. It is on the Circle and District lines between Embankment and Blackfriars and is in Travelcard Zone 1.
The name comes from the Knights Templar who owned the land in the 13th century, via Inner Temple and Middle Temple, which are situated nearby. However, archaeological evidence suggests that a Roman Temple existed on this site many centuries ago. It is also the closest station to Aldwych tube station, the famous disused station of the London Underground.

Temple is the nearest tube station for King's College London and the London School of Economics.
