There's got to be something wrong with us all, liberals and conservatives, deconstructionists and traditionalists, gays, straights, pros and antis, when the very first thing we say about a person is his sexuality. --Dpr 06:41, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
- Stems from the first version of the article reading that way. Can't say as I disagree, I think his works are more important than his sexuality, but then I don't really care too much. Perhaps you should change the article? Cleduc 17:55, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
- I definitely agree. Unless it was a major, major element of his biography, this fact should not be the sole occupant of the first paragraph. Like Cleduc, however, I don't really care, and am not wualified to prioritize facts in his biography. Perhaps someone who knows more about the man should edit it.ALC Washington 01:54, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- I moved it to the last sentence of the third paragraph, since somebody was so bothered that they removed it altogether. No edit comment, of course. Cleduc 03:09, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- A very substantial portion of his work focuses on gay themes. It's probably as important or more important than the fact that he happens to be American. I find it interesting that nobody suggests removing "American" due to it's irrelevance, but throughout Wikipedia there's a purge of the "gay" tag. --209.78.192.27 01:40, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
