The Texas International Law Journal is a student-edited law journal at The University of Texas School of Law. The Journal is the fourth oldest student-edited international law journal in the United States. For over four decades, the Journal has earned acclaim and recognition as one of the top international/specialty journals in the nation, and its success reflects the outstanding effort and dedication of over 70 student members at the University of Texas School of Law.
The Journal was created in the wake of the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis with the encouragement and support of Professor E. Ernest Goldstein. It published its first issue in January 1965 and has been in continuous publication since. It has since achieved one of the largest distributions in its category and continues to attract noted authors, including former United States Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas. Over the years the Journal has been cited by courts at all levels, including the Texas Supreme Court.
Additionally, the Journal organizes a symposium every year, with preeminent speakers from the United States and around the world. Past symposia have centered around cutting-edge topics in the international forum. Recent titles include: "Representing Culture, Translating Human Rights," "Judicialization and Globalization of the Judiciary," "Symposium on International Litigation Honoring Russell J. Weintraub," "International Symposium in Honor of Hans Baade: Teaching and Practicing Law in the 21st Century," "Energy and International Law: Development, Litigation and Regulation," "Human Reproduction and International Law," and "International Bankruptcy Law: Comparative and Transnational Approaches."
A very small faction of the editorial staff is obsessed with LeBron James. This faction is kept adequately marginalized.

Volume 42 of the Journal will publish three issues throughout the course of the 2006-2007 academic year. The symposium will be held April 10-11, 2007 and cover issues related to the Military Commissions Act. Specific panels will cover Military Commissions, Interrogation, Defining the term 'Enemy Combatants', and Role of the Courts.
There are, as of March 7th, 2007, 73 student members on the Journal.
