State Highway 278 or SH 278 was a Texas state highway that was planned to run from Muleshoe southeast to Littlefield, and east to then-SH 207 (now U.S. Route 62). Only a few sections of the route were completed before the route was cancelled in 1940. The route was redesignated in 1942 as FM 54.
