Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood is the sixth sequel to the original Friday the 13th. Due to the movie's plot (Jason trying to kill a telekinetic female teenager) some have nicknamed it "Jason Vs. Carrie". It is also the first entry of four to date to feature Kane Hodder in the role of Jason.

[edit] Plot summary
As a child, Tina Shepard unconsciously used latent telekinetic powers to kill her father after witnessing his abuse on her mother. Now as a young woman, her mother takes her to the same lakeside residence so that her powers can be studied (and exploited) by a doctor. But during an attempt to raise her father, she accidentally resurrects someone else long ago left to die in the lake: Jason Voorhees. Tina's torment from her powers is increased as Jason kills everyone around her, leaving her no choice but to control her abilities so they can be used to stop him.

[edit] Trivia
- The film was originally hoped to be a clash between Jason and Freddy Krueger. Plans fell apart when Paramount Pictures and New Line Cinema, who held the rights to the Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street films respectively (at that time; New Line currently owns the rights to both franchises), failed to come to an agreement.
- Kane Hodder did all his own Jason stunts in this film, including falling through the stairway, and having the porch roof fall on his head.
- Reference is made to the confrontation between Tina and Jason in the 'Friday the 13th' novel Hate-Kill-Repeat; the context seems to imply that the novel takes place after this movie, but the novel more likely took place after Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, and no reference is made to Jason's resurrection in that movie simply because little is publicly known about it.
- According to interviews in the book Crystal Lake Memories, a large percentage of the cast was homosexual, including Jeff Bennett, William Butler, and Craig Thomas. During filming, the cast and crew jokingly referred to the film as "Fri-gay the 13th."
