David Steele is linked to a cricketeer from the mid-70s, who, I'm rather confident, was not actually the bass player for the Beat.
[edit] Paul Collins?
"The Beat" is also the name of a power pop band from the 1980s, formed by Paul Collins. The English Beat is known as The English Beat to avoid confusion with the other Beat. Paul Collin's Beat is commonly known as Paul Collin's Beat.
