Talk:The Chaser
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Since The Chaser newsletter is nomore, should we perhaps change the name to reflect their advances in Television? --Smartaalec 05:11, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Navigation template
I've made a template to ease navigation between Chaser pages:
I think some of these can be merged:
- Bloody Sunday can be merged into Today Today
- The Chaser Decides and The Election Chaser can be merged into CNNNN
- The Chaser Annual can be merged into The Chaser (newspaper)
I think the links should still remain in the template - they should just point to respective sub-sections, for example Today Today#Bloody Sunday.
I have added the group to Category:The Chaser, which itself is a member of Category:Australian media, Category:Comedy troupes and Category:Political satire. These are the best existing categories I could find for the group in general - More specific categories, such as Comedy television shows, Australian newspapers, and so on, can go on the individual production articles.
Any more ideas? -- Chuq 11:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Great job, i like it Smartaalec 12:12, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- I Disagree with the merging of The Chaser decides and The Election Chaser into CNNNN. Smartaalec 10:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
- How about an article, The Chaser election specials for The Chaser Decides and The Election Chaser? -- Chuq 04:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Notable Wikipedian
The {{Notable Wikipedian}} template above would be more suitable on the Dominic Knight article - which we have one. (Which would be good, because I don't think anyone knows a lot about him!) -- Chuq 01:03, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Information
I think I can help expand this topic by adding information I know about the team. I disagree with the merging of Today Today and Bloody Sunday because they have established themselves as two different shows. I also disagree with the merging of CNNNN and The Chaser Decides because they are two different shows, however I do agree with the merging of the Election Chaser with the Chaser Decides because it is the same show but with a different name. I have started up a new Chaser article about Chas and Dom's new radio show and suggest it be added to the navagation template, I will expand about information on it soon. [edit] Friday Chaser on Triple M
A couple of years ago around 2003/4 there was a show with I think Craig and Chris called the Friday chaser on triple m. it was on around 2pm and also had a segment called something like "Dare Chas" including one memorable stunt where he tried to place a citizen's arrest on a bouncer for loitering. All he would wear was a hidden mic so it was more dangerous than his tv stunts. Anyway i dont see anything about it on the chaser pages. Jabso 04:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Chaser Team's Middle Names
You may have noticed on most of the chaser teams names that their middle names have been added, this is all from the Audio commentary for volume 2 of the chasers war on everything season one dvd, everyone but Chas Licciardello's middle name was mentioned. Julian morrows middle name was mentioned but couldnt decipher if it was 'Frances Xavier' or not but im fairly certain it is, best to keep it out in case i'm wrong. [edit] Origin of The Chaser name
The origin of "The Chaser" was explained in a video clip on http://www.countdowntothechaser.com.au/ (see the Highlights > Day 9 > the last clip) by Chas:
"Why's it called The Chaser? The reason why it's called The Chaser is because we had a comedy newspaper to begin with, called The Chaser, and that was called The Chaser as in, like... The idea was it was supposed to come out on Sunday, and people would get the Sunday papers, and this would be like, The Chaser, like the after-dinner drink of the [???] and the thing is that it never came out on Sunday because we were really disorganised, and so that made no sense."
