Editing Guidelines |
Please remember these guidelines when editing a film article:
- If a non-film article already exists with the name of the film that you are trying to create an article for, disambiguate and use (film) in the title: Film Title (film)
- When writing an article about a particular film, the general format should be a concise lead section, followed by a plot summary of no more than 900 words, production details, a cast list, a reception section, and references.
- Create an Infobox that tells all pertinent information about the film.

[edit] Release year
IMDB lists this film as being released in 1968, while this article says 1969. I wonder if this is because the film saw limited release starting Christmas '68 and entered full release at the beginning of Jan 69? - CHAIRBOY (☎) 04:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, IMDB is incorrect. I have two sources saying the film was released in March '69- the official Disney website [1] which states The Love Bug was released on March 13, 1969, and Herbiemania.com, the first Herbie website and a very reliable source. (The author of the website contributed a lot to the history featurette on the Special Edition DVD.) -HotWheels53 20:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- It depends what date your using as the release date. This movie was premiered and released in 1968, although that was a limited release. It seems you are choosing to disregard that and use the national release date instead. The Herbiemania site is more about the actual car than the movies, so it's not a particularly reliable source in this case. IMDb has errors, but major ones like listing the wrong release year for a movie like The Love Bug would be corrected quickly, so 1968 is clearly the sensible option.
All Movie Guide also lists the release date as 1968 - [2] 172.200.60.145 21:20, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- You may be right. Do you have a source for this statement? "This movie was premiered and released in 1968, although that was a limited release." -HotWheels(53) Talk 15:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
