[edit] History
The first alumni association for Texas A&M, the Ex-Cadets Association was established shortly after the foundation of the school, in 1879. The Ex-Cadets Association gave way to the A&M Alumni Association and the Alpha Phi Fraternity. In 1919, a coalition of alumni began first using the name "The Association of Former Students."[4]
The current organization known as The Association for Former Students was founded in 1925.[4]
