The Icons (Australia)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Icons are a rock band based in Adelaide, South Australia. Originally a cover band which performed under various names until settling upon "Icon" in 2000, they changed their name to "The Icons" and started writing original music in 2002, releasing their first album in 2003. The band includes George Hartley (bass and backing vocals), Tim Huestis (guitar and lead vocals), Julian Casson (drums and keyboard) and James King (guitar). Their music is firmly in the genre of "Oz Rock", and several of their songs make reference to their South Australian home. Their influences include Pink Floyd, The Beatles and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Songs from both albums received airplay on the national broadcaster Triple J, and were met with enthusiastic critical acclaim. However, the future of the band is currently in doubt as its members complete university.
