Thomas'
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomas' is a brand of english muffins and bagels in North America. It is owned by George Weston Limited bakery, which also owns Entenmann's, Boboli, Strohmann, and Arnold's bread companies. It advertises as having "nooks and crannies" in the muffins, making it less dense than competitive brands. The company also produces toasting/swirl breads, pitas, and wraps.
The company was founded by Samuel Bath Thomas (1855–1919). In 1874, he emigrated from England to New York City and began working in a bakery. By 1880, he had purchased his own bakery, where he featured his namesake muffins. The company, S.B. Thomas, Inc., was incorporated by his family after his death in 1922. Here is a picture of the company's logo.
[edit] Bagelbread Squares
Recently, Thomas' introduced a new type of bagel, called Bagelbread. The packaging on a loaf of Bagelbread reads "With all the flavor of a bagel, and the soft texture of bread, Squares is a tasty alternative to bread, rolls, and even round bagels." Bagelbread can be used as a bun for burgers, pizza, finger sandwiches, and garlic bread. The product comes in a package of six pre-sliced bagel squares, available in plain, whole wheat, and everything flavors.
