Qualifications Teacher's certificate and Bachelor of Arts. Some time member Institute of Public Relations, British Institute of Management, and as I recall... Institute of Information Scientists. Have held UK and USA private pilot licences.
Posts held have included: Several in PR and education: Open University, Bristol Polytechnic, Committee of Directors of Polytechnics, Schools Council, Wiltshire County Council. Senior Lecturer: created first UK dedicated PR undergraduate course. And a very junior, underpaid, political party regional organiser.
Current occupation Freelance - mainly Copy Editor/writer for Pilot magazine (UK recreational and business flying).
Home Devon, UK. At various times: central London, Nottingham, Bristol, Buckinghamshire.
Published aviation articles include 100 Top Pilots; Lindbergh's panel; Charlie's Engine (in the Wright brothers' Flyer); a six part Aviation Glossary; Twenty Days to a PPL (pilot's course in Texas); From Love Field to London; The IMC Rating; Helicopters - my first forty minutes, a Tour of France, humour. Monthly series (ongoing): New on the Net (aviation websites); Safety Matters (analysis of mainly UK accidents, based on official reports); reviews of DVDs.
