Townsend Saunders ( born April 20, 1967) is an Olympic silver medalist who was a two-time All-American at Arizona State University. Saunders began his college wrestling career as a runner-up in 1987 for Div. II California State-Bakersfield. Known in college as "Junior" Saunders, he adopted his given name in international competition. Saunders competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, losing to Lion's Den fighter Mikey Burnett.
Saunders married Tricia, a former fila International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles, (female) wrestler and is the father of three children. Saunders currently works for University of Phoenix Online as a Director in the International Department.
