This article is based around Transportation in Luton
Luton is about 30 miles north of London, giving it good links with the City and other major cities through the network of road and rail. Luton is also home to London Luton Airport, one of the major feeder airports for London and the southeast. Luton is also served by a bus service run by Arriva and a large taxi network that spans across the whole town.
As a Unitary Authority, Luton Borough Council is responsible for the local highways and public transport in the Borough and licensing of Taxis.

Luton is served by several major roads. The most significant are the M1 motorway which cuts passes the town to the south and west, the A505 which crosses through the town from west to east, and the A6 which starts in Luton Town centre and travels out north to Bedford and eventually, Carlisle.

Luton is served by the Midland Railway and Thameslink. The National Rail serves Luton and Luton Airport Parkway, the Thameslink CityMetro also serving these two, and the Thameslink CityFlier serves the two and Leagrave, another railway station in Luton.

Bus services in Luton are mainly provided by the national transport operator Arriva which tend to run fixed route, larger buses on busy routes. Several local bus operators run less direct routes in smaller vehicles.

The last Luton Local Transport Plan bid saw the east Luton corridor improvement scheme and the Translink scheme being accepted by the Department for Transport. Work on the east corridor improvement scheme which aims to improve access to Luton and London Luton Airport from the M1 started in late 2006.
