The Tricoloured Munia Lonchura malacca ia a estrildid finch, native to India and Sri Lanka. The sepecies was also introduced to Australia, Haiti, Jamaica, Japan, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Lonchura malacca (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into L. malacca and L. atricapilla.

The Tricoloured Munia is a small gregarious bird which feeds mainly on grain and other seeds. It inhabits wetlands habitats. It may also be found in tropical region of lowland moist forest habitats.
