Twingine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Twingine or YaGooHoo!gle as it was previously known is a search engine which combines the vast search capacities of Google with the focused results lists of Yahoo! Search. The Twingine web site takes the user's query and creates a browser window with two frames, with the results from Yahoo! on one side and those from Google on the other.
YaGooHoo!gle was created by Norwegian Asgeir Nilsen who had grown tired first searching Google, then Yahoo!, and having to switch browser windows in order to view the results. The site started as an April Fool's post on Slashdot.
Twingine runs on a home computer and currently takes donations from people who enjoy the service that is provided. Similar search engines exist that combine the search results of multiple popular search engines into one. Dogpile.com is alike in that Google, Yahoo!, MSN Search, and Ask.com are combined into one, although in slightly different format. Twingine is setup in easier to read format which shows the results from the direct webpages in single, divided window, unlike Dogpile.
