Uddingston railway station serves the town of Uddingston, South Lanarkshire. The station is located on the Argyle Line and the Shotts Line. Passenger services are provided by First ScotRail on behalf of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).
The station is also on the East and West Coast Main Line, although no services are provided. Passengers can travel to Motherwell or Glasgow Central to board express trains bound for Plymouth, London King's Cross & Euston, Penzance & York and Newcastle Central services, all operated by GNER or Virgin Trains.
The main entrance is located on Station Road. Passengers travel through the Ticket Office and newly opened "Coffee Stop" to Platform 1 (Glasgow-bound trains). Platform 2 (Motherwell/Edinburgh-bound trains) and the car park are accessible by a footbridge over the double line. The station does not contain any underpasses or level crossings, as is common in the Strathclyde area.
The station has received major investment in recent times funded by First ScotRail, SPT and South Lanarkshire Council. Recent improvements include:
- a £610,000 investment in more than doubling the amount of parking spaces and improving pedestrian access
- installation of an automatic ticket vending machine and renewal of ticketing system within booking office
- the opening of the 'Coffee Stop'
- addition of hanging baskets and floral beds through working with the local community
- new station seating both on platforms and within the waiting room
Further enhancements are planned including:
- installation of state-of-the-art flat-screen Passenger Information System displays for both platforms and waiting area
- addition of fully-accessible public toilets on platform 1
- addition of public telephone
