Ulises
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ulises is a bull orca whale who lives in SeaWorld, San Diego, California. His name is pronounced much like "Ulysses," but since he was originally named in a park in Barcelona, Spain, his name is in the Spanish form. Ulises was captured on November 19, 1980 from Iceland. He was about three years old at the time, most likely placing his birth in 1977. He arrived in San Diego in 1994 and has been there ever since.
Ulises is a completely mature male and has had access to many different females, but never managed to impregnate them. It is now thought that he has a low sperm count and so has no offspring. Uli, as he is nicknamed by his trainers, is a large bull orca. Measuring 20 feet 3 inches (6.17 m) and weighing in at 9,400 pounds (4,270 kg), he is the largest animal in the state of California.
