The United States Naval Observatory Flagstaff Station is an astronomical observatory operated as a dark-sky observing site by the United States Naval Observatory. The Flagstaff Station was established at a site five miles west of Flagstaff, Arizona in 1955. The U.S. Naval Observatory also operates the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer in collaboration with Lowell Observatory at Anderson Mesa, 15 miles south east of Flagstaff.
