Though the picture is subject to copyright. I (MJBurrage) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- The design of the Enterprise is a copyrighted three-dimensional artistic design. Therefore, any representation of said design is a derivative work, and no free image can be created.
- it does not limit the copyright owner’s rights to sell the show, DVDs, games, posters, models, toys, etc.;
- it illustrates a fictional ship in a way that text alone cannot.
