[edit] Story
The game includes a basic background story to support the gameplay. In this story, a volcanic eruption causes a small tribe of people to flee their homeland. They are soon washed ashore on the island of Isola, and the player becomes their benevolent overseer. Isola is a bountiful small island, but the player must help the villagers survive by telling them what to do.
[edit] Gameplay
The player trains their villagers to farm, breed, build, research, and heal, in an effort to solve puzzles and start island events. The villagers explore Isola (the fictitious island) on their own, with some direction provided by the player. The game simulation progresses in real time even when the game is not running. Later, when the player begins playing again, the game calculates the result of the simulation during the intervening time. Villagers can die, however, due to lack of food, so the player can use Tech Points gained from research to buy the villagers the ability to fish, farm, or forage. Once there are no more living villagers, the game is over. Because of improving their lifestyles, the game can last for months for the player to win. There are sixteen steps and no game levels for the game.
[edit] Chapters
Several chapters of the game are being released. Each chapter advances the storyline and provides new activities and events. Each chapter must be purchased separately.
