Vitacura is one of richest municipalitys and comunas of Chile, behind the municipality of Las Condes.. It is located in the northeastern area of Chile's capital Santiago. Administratively it is part of the province of Santiago in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.
Vitacura is one of the most expensive and fashionable areas of the city. Inhabitants are primarily high income families. It has an area of 28.3 km² and a population of 81,499 (2002 census).
The Costanera Norte tollway connects Vitacura with the international airport and subway stations are located in the neighbor municipality of Las Condes.
Vitacura is see of ECLAC headquarters, home to the Chilean European Southern Observatory (ESO) headquarters.
