Waddon Marsh railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Waddon Marsh was a railway station on the railway between West Croydon and Wimbledon.
It was opened in 1930 with an island platform serving 2 tracks accessible by a footbridge. A third and fourth track went through the station but these were used as sidings for Croydon A&B Power Stations and the Croydon Gas Works. Following the closure and demolition of the Power Stations, all but one track was demolished and only platform 1 was kept in operation. The footbridge was demolished also.
The next station to the west was Beddington Lane Halt and to the east was West Croydon.
The station was closed in 1997 and Waddon Marsh tram stop was built on its site.
