Walter Gerardo Pandiani Urquiza (born 27 April 1976 in Montevideo) is a professional football player from Uruguay currently playing for Espanyol.
Pandiani, who plays as a striker, has previously played Progreso, Basañez, Peñarol (1998-2000), Deportivo de La Coruña (2000-2002 and 2003-2005), Real Mallorca (2002-2003) and Birmingham City (2005-2006). He has also made one appearance for the Uruguayan national team.
He is known for his superb aerial ability and has the nickname "The Rifle", but became more known at Birmingham by fans as "Water Pistol". He had a number of disagreements with his former club, Deportivo La Coruna, and head coach Javier Irureta, which contributed to his decision to leave Spain and join Birmingham City on loan in 2005. Pandiani scored a goal on his debut for Birmingham and went on to score three more goals, convincing manager Steve Bruce to sign him on a full contract the following summer. But he returned to Spain on January 13, 2006 after completing a move to Espanyol for £1.02m. Shortly after leaving, some supporters on a forum [named him "El firo blanks" and "Expensive flop".
